Carchuna is a very special spot on the Costa Tropical: a long, open beach stretching for four kilometres, free from overcrowded housing developments, with Cabo Sacratif and its lighthouse keeping watch at one end and subtropical crops under plastic sheeting covering everything that isn’t sea. It is the destination of choice for travellers seeking peace and quiet, year-round sunshine and outdoor living, and one of the few stretches of coastline that still retains that atmosphere of a farming village by the Mediterranean, far from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist resorts.
To get around the area, a compact car is the most practical option: it’s easy to park, economical on fuel and takes you comfortably along the N-340 between the neighbouring villages. If there are several of you travelling or you plan to carry bikes, paddleboards or beach chairs, we recommend an estate car or an MPV with extra space. And for a more relaxed drive, especially if you’re heading up into the Alpujarras or travelling as far as Almería, automatic models are a very comfortable option.
Your booking includes all the essentials as standard: unlimited mileage to explore the coast of Granada and beyond, a free additional driver to share the driving, and free cancellation up to 48 hours in advance if your plans change. The rate you confirm online is the rate you pay when you collect the car, with no last-minute charges.
We’ll deliver your car to your campsite
In Carchuna, car drop-off and collection at the campsite are free of charge. We’ll arrange a date and time that suits you best; we’ll meet you at the campsite entrance, where we’ll sign the contract and hand over the keys. When your stay is over, simply leave the car parked on the campsite and hand the key in at reception; our team will collect it when it’s ready.
Drop-off times are Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:15 and from 17:45 to 18:15, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. There is no drop-off or collection service at the campsite on Sundays. If your return flight departs from Málaga, you can also end your trip by leaving the car at our airport office: for rentals of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service; for longer stays, there is no charge for this service.

Is there a charge for having the car delivered to the Carchuna campsite?
No. We’ll deliver the car to Camping Don Cactus free of charge, and we’ll collect it at the end of your stay. Both services are included in the booking price.
What are your delivery times in Carchuna?
In Carchuna, we only deliver to the campsite. If you’d prefer a hotel, the nearest options with delivery to your accommodation are in Salobreña, about twenty minutes’ drive to the west, where we do offer a hotel delivery service. You can also collect the car directly from our office in Motril, the nearest to Carchuna, and drive to your hotel yourself.
Can I pick up the car in Carchuna and drop it off at Málaga Airport?
Yes, we can arrange that. For bookings of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service. For longer stays, there is no extra charge for leaving the car at the airport.
What documents will I be asked to provide on the day of collection?
Your ID card or passport, a driving licence held for at least one year, and a credit card in your name as a guarantee. If you only have a debit card, we can still arrange this: we’ll take a deposit of €350, which we’ll refund when the contract ends. The minimum age is 21 and there is no maximum age limit. A second driver is included in the price.
