Enjoy your hire car in Salobreña
Salobreña is one of the most picturesque white villages in Andalusia: a hamlet perched atop a hill, crowned by a 10th-century Moorish castle and surrounded by a sea of subtropical vegetation. At the foot of the village, El Peñón divides the coast into two distinct beaches, La Charca to the east and La Guardia to the west, each with its own unique atmosphere. It is a destination with a wealth of character, defined by the mild climate of the Costa Tropical and a local way of life that follows its own rhythm, untouched by the mass tourism of the Costa del Sol.
To get around the area, a compact car is the most practical option: the narrow, steep streets of the old town can make parking up there a bit of a challenge. If there are several of you travelling or you plan to carry surfboards, parasols or beach chairs, opt for an estate car or a people carrier with plenty of space. And if you prefer a more relaxed drive along the N-340 or the climb up to the Alpujarras, automatic models are a very comfortable option.
Your booking includes all the essentials as standard: comprehensive insurance with no excess, 24-hour breakdown assistance anywhere in Andalusia, and a fixed price from the moment your booking is confirmed. What you see when you confirm is what you pay, with no last-minute charges.
We’ll deliver your car to your accommodation
If you’re staying at a hotel in Salobreña, we’ll deliver the car to you there, free of charge. We’ll meet you at a time and date that suits you best, arrive at the hotel, go through the contract and hand over the keys so you’re ready to set off. When your stay is over, simply leave the car parked near the hotel and the key at reception; our team will collect it when it’s available.
Are you not staying in a hotel in the town, or would you prefer to collect the car yourself? You can also do so at our meeting point at the Salobreña Tourist Office. This is a convenient option if you’re arriving by bus, spending the day in the old town, or want to collect your car at the foot of the castle. When making your booking, select the Salobreña (Tourist Office) option and we’ll arrange to meet you there.
The drop-off times are the same at both locations: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:15 and from 17:30 to 18:15, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. If your return flight departs from Malaga, you can also return the car to our airport office: for rentals of less than a week, a €30 one-way service charge applies; for longer stays, there is no charge for this service.

What our customers say

Hotels we serve in Salobreña
Although Salobreña is a small town, it offers a good variety of accommodation: classic beachfront hotels, boutique hotels in the heart of the old town, and more urban options along the main avenue. Here are a few places we usually drive to:
Just off the N-340 and overlooking the sea, we visit the Hotel Salobreña, a local classic featuring a large swimming pool, gardens and rooms with balconies facing the Mediterranean. On Avenida del Mediterráneo, we also take the car to the Hotel Avenida Tropical, a boutique hotel with a jacuzzi on the terrace, tapas in the bar and a very warm welcome from the family who run it. And for those looking to stay right next to the castle, we recommend the Hotel Boutique Alcazaba, a recently renovated building on Calle Cristo, just a short walk from the walled enclosure.
These are just a few examples. There are other places to stay in the area that we can also reach: please let us know when you book which one you’re staying at and we’ll arrange to meet you there.
Day trips from Salobreña
You’re in one of the most easily accessible spots in the whole of Eastern Andalusia. The coast stretches out on one side, the Alpujarras on the other, and Granada is just over an hour’s drive up the motorway. Having your car here is what opens up this whole area to you.
Ten minutes’ drive to the east lies Motril, the capital of the Costa Tropical, with its long seafront promenade and the culinary delights of the harbour area. In the other direction, also just ten minutes away, you’ll reach Almuñécar, a fishing village with a charming old town, the palm-lined Majuelo Park and an Arab-built castle overlooking the sea. If you fancy a trip up into the mountains, Lanjarón is just forty-five minutes away – the natural gateway to the Alpujarras, known for its thermal springs and its trails leading to the white villages of the valley.
And if you’re looking for just one unforgettable day trip, head up to the Sierra Nevada. Just over an hour’s drive from Salobreña on the motorway, you’ll find yourself in one of the most spectacular natural settings on the peninsula: in winter, a ski resort with views of the Mediterranean on clear days; in summer, hiking trails amongst glacial lakes and alpine meadows at over two thousand metres above sea level. It’s one of those experiences that changes your whole perspective on the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to go to an office, or will you take the car straight to the hotel?
We’ll deliver it straight to your hotel in Salobreña, so you don’t have to go anywhere. If you’d prefer to collect it yourself, we also have a collection point at the Salobreña Tourist Office, where our team will hand over the car to you once your booking has been confirmed. When you book online, you can choose the option that suits you best.
What are your delivery times in Salobreña?
We deliver Monday to Friday in two time slots (10:00 to 13:15 and 17:30 to 18:15), and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. The schedule is the same whether we deliver to your hotel or arrange collection at the Tourist Office. When you make your booking, simply choose the time slot that suits you best.
How much does it cost to have the car delivered to my hotel in Salobreña?
There’s no charge. We’ll deliver the car to your hotel free of charge, and collection at the end of your stay is also included. Both services are covered by your booking fee.
Can I leave the car at Málaga Airport at the end of my trip?
Yes, we can arrange that. For bookings of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service. For longer rentals, dropping the car off at the airport is free of charge.
What do I need to have ready for collection?
Your ID card or passport, a driving licence held for at least one year, and a credit card in your name as a guarantee. If you only have a debit card, we can still arrange this: we’ll take a deposit of €350, which we’ll refund when the contract ends. The minimum age is 21 and there is no maximum age limit. A second driver is included in the price.
