The Playa Granada area is home to most of the hotels and golf courses, whilst Playa de Poniente and the Paseo de las Azucenas are the go-to spots for a relaxing morning on the beach and an evening of grilled fish. And all this in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada, which can be seen to the north and is less than an hour’s drive away.
For getting around the town, a compact car is ideal: it’s easy to park, economical on fuel and a comfortable way to travel between Playa Granada and the town centre. If there are several of you travelling or you need to carry surfboards, golf clubs and beach gear, opt for an estate car or a 7- to 9-seater people carrier. And if you’d rather not have to worry about changing gears whilst driving along the N-340 or heading up towards the Alpujarra, automatic models are a very convenient option.

We’ll deliver your car to your accommodation
If you’re staying at a hotel or campsite in Motril, we’ll deliver the car straight to you, free of charge. We’ll arrange a date and time with you, arrive at your accommodation, go through the contract and hand over the keys. At the end of your stay, simply leave the car parked near your accommodation and hand the key in at reception; our team will collect it when it’s ready.
Are you not staying in Motril, or would you prefer to collect the car yourself? You can also do so at our meeting point at the Hotel Elba Motril, in the Playa de Poniente area. This is ideal if you’re coming in your own car, arriving by train in Granada, or simply want a quick pick-up without having to wait at the hotel. When making your booking, select the Motril (Playa Poniente) option.
The drop-off times at accommodation are Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 13:00 and from 17:30 to 18:15, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. At the Hotel Elba meeting point, the morning slot starts half an hour later: from 10:00 to 13:00, with the same afternoon slot and Saturday times remaining unchanged. And if your return flight departs from Málaga, you can also end your journey at our airport office: for rentals of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service; for longer stays, there is no charge for this service.

Day trips from Motril
Few places in Andalusia offer a better starting point: the Costa Tropical lies to one side, the Alpujarras to the other, and Granada is just an hour’s drive up the motorway. Having your own car here is what really opens up the whole region.
Ten minutes’ drive west, right in the heart of the Costa Tropical, lies Salobreña, with its Moorish castle overlooking an old town of whitewashed streets that wind their way down to the beach. Twenty minutes further along the coast takes you to Almuñécar, perfect for a stroll through El Majuelo, its hidden beaches and a swim in waters more turquoise than anywhere else in the Mediterranean. If you fancy heading up into the mountains, in forty-five minutes you’ll find yourself in Lanjarón, the gateway to the Alpujarras, known for its thermal springs and as the starting point for routes to the white villages of the area.
And if you’re only going to go on one unforgettable day trip during your stay, make it to the Alhambra in Granada. Just over an hour’s drive up the A-44, the Nasrid palaces, the Generalife gardens and the Albaicín on the other side of the river await you. Buy your ticket well in advance (places sell out fast), set aside the whole morning and head down to the old town for lunch: it’s the perfect plan for combining the sea and a monument in a single trip.

We’ll deliver it straight to your accommodation, so you don’t have to go anywhere. If you’d prefer to collect it yourself, we also have a collection point at the Hotel Elba Motril (Playa de Poniente) where our team will hand over the car to you once your booking is confirmed. When you book online, simply choose the option that suits you best.
What are your delivery times in Motril?
At accommodation venues, we deliver from Monday to Friday between 09:30 and 13:00 and between 17:30 and 18:15, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. At the Hotel Elba meeting point, the morning slot is slightly later: from 10:00 to 13:00, whilst the afternoon slot and Saturday remain the same. Can I leave the car at Málaga Airport at the end of my trip?
Yes, we can arrange that. For bookings of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service. For longer rentals, dropping the car off at the airport is free of charge.
What do I need to bring with me on the day of collection?
Your ID card or passport, a driving licence held for at least one year, and a credit card in your name as security. If you only have a debit card, we can still arrange this: we’ll take a deposit of €350, which we’ll refund when the contract ends. The minimum age is 21 and there is no maximum age limit. A second driver is included in the price.
How much does it cost to have the car delivered to my accommodation in Motril?
There’s no charge. We’ll deliver the car to your hotel or campsite in Motril free of charge, and collection at the end of your stay is also included in the price. Both services are included in your booking fee.
