Pick up and drop off your car without leaving the port
The handover point sits inside the port itself, a few minutes from the quay. Collection is quick and straightforward, so your day ashore starts right away.
- Step off the ship and take the shuttle bus. It’s free, it leaves from the quay and it stops a few metres from the handover point. Three or four minutes and you’re there.
- Your car is ready and waiting. Our team hands you the keys at the rate you confirmed when booking, with no last-minute charges. You’ll be on the road within minutes.
- Off you go, with the whole day ahead. Granada is just over an hour away. Salobrena is ten minutes and Almunecar twenty. How far you go is up to you.
- Back on board in ten minutes. Drop the car where you picked it up and catch the same shuttle. It runs constantly, so there’s no risk of cutting your boarding time fine.
Arriving on your own boat? The handover point is the same. The shuttle only runs on cruise days, so you can come straight from your mooring.

For getting around Motril, Salobrena and the rest of the Costa Tropical, a compact car is the most convenient option, also available as an automatic or a convertible. If your plans include a trip up to Granada and the Alhambra, a tour of the Alpujarra or a drive to Nerja, an SUV or an estate car is better suited to the distances and mountain roads. If several of you are arriving from the ship with all your luggage, a people carrier offers extra seats and boot space without splitting the group up.

Where to find us
Our handover point is inside the Port of Motril grounds, a few metres from the first stop of the shuttle bus that leaves the quay. To book this service, simply select Port of Motril in the location search.
Once your booking is confirmed you’ll receive an email with precise directions to the meeting point and the team’s contact details. We’d recommend reading it before you disembark: the area is large and knowing where you’re going saves you wandering about.
For one-day hires we apply a charge of €5 for delivery and €5 for return (€10 in total). For longer hires, delivery and return are included in the price.

On cruise days, the port area comes alive and transport services are in high demand. Having your car waiting for you when you disembark is the most convenient way to turn your stopover into a full day’s trip, with the freedom to set your own pace.
With your car at your disposal, Granada and the Alhambra become a key part of your day’s itinerary, and the old towns of Salobrena and Almunecar make for a natural stop for lunch by the sea. If you’d rather head a few kilometres into the mountains, the Alpujarras offer a more authentic taste of Andalusia, with its rural cuisine and traditional spots. And when it’s time to head back, the return is just as quick: you drop the car off and you’re back on board within minutes.
What you need to collect your car
At BayGo, we like to make sure that collection is quick and hassle-free, especially if you’re arriving with limited time after a cruise stopover or a sea crossing. That’s why it’s a good idea to have your documents ready in advance, so that everything is sorted within minutes of you disembarking.
The essential documents you need to bring are the main driver’s ID card or passport and their physical driving licence, provided they have at least one year’s driving experience. If you’re coming from outside the European Union, we recommend checking whether your country also requires an international driving permit. Don’t forget your booking reference number, which you’ll receive by email once your booking is confirmed.
We will require a credit card as a security deposit. It does not have to be in the main driver’s name, but the cardholder must be present at the time of collection. If you do not have a credit card and only have a debit card, we will process the security deposit as a €350 cash deposit, which will be refunded when you return the car. To drive with BayGo, you simply need to be at least 21 years old.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if my ship arrives late?
Not a problem. Docking delays are common and we check the actual arrival time of cruise ships on the day, so your car will be waiting for you regardless. If you’d like to let us know, the team’s phone number is in your confirmation email. We don’t apply any charge for collecting later than planned on the same day.
Do I have time to get to Granada on a one-day stopover?
Yes, with room to spare. From the handover point it’s just over an hour to Granada by motorway, so a seven- or eight-hour stopover is plenty of time to head up, see the centre and come back without rushing. If you’d rather not go so far, Salobrena is ten minutes away, Almunecar twenty and Nerja around forty-five. And if you fancy the mountains, Lanjaron and the gateway to the Alpujarra are under an hour away. Do bear in mind that entry to the Alhambra needs to be booked in advance, particularly in high season.
Are there any additional charges for delivery and return at the Port of Motril?
For one-day rentals only. In this case, we charge €5 for delivery and €5 for return (€10 in total), which covers the team’s journey to the handover point. For rentals of more than one day, delivery and return at the Port of Motril are included in the price, at no extra cost.
What does my booking with BayGo include?

Yes, that’s what we call a one-way hire: you pick up the car here and return it at one of our other locations, whether that’s Malaga Airport or one of our four branches (Almunecar, Nerja, Torrox or La Herradura). It’s free for rentals of 7 days or more, and a fixed charge of €30 applies to rentals of less than a week.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes. You can amend your booking at any time (change the dates, vehicle or pick-up location) subject to availability. And you can cancel it free of charge up to 48 hours before the pick-up time. For any changes or cancellations, please contact our team using the email address provided in the confirmation email you received when you made your booking.
