Enjoy your hire car in Órgiva
Órgiva is the natural capital of the Lower Alpujarra, a village nestled in the Guadalfeo Valley between the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de la Contraviesa. Its old town is home to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Expectación, with its unique twin bell towers dating from the 16th century, and just a short walk away lies one of Andalusia’s most intriguing Thursday markets: a mix of local producers, hippies who have lived here since the 1970s, and an international community that has made this their home in the world.
To get around the area, we recommend a compact car: the roads in the Alpujarra are winding, the car parks in the small villages are tight, and a nimble car makes everything much easier. If there are several of you travelling or you plan to carry bikes and hiking gear, opt for an estate car or a people carrier, and if you prefer a more relaxed drive up to the white villages, automatic models are an ideal choice.
Your booking includes all the essentials as standard: a free additional driver, a fixed rate from the moment of confirmation, and no deposit required when you collect the car (payment by credit card). What you confirm online is what you pay, with no last-minute charges.
We’ll deliver your car to your accommodation
There are three ways to collect the car in Órgiva. If you’re staying at a hotel or campsite in the village, we’ll bring the car straight there: we’ll arrange a time with you, go through the contract together and hand over the keys. When returning the car, simply leave it parked nearby and hand the key in at reception.
Are you staying in a rural guesthouse, a private home or a farmhouse in the surrounding area? You can collect your booking at our meeting point in Órgiva: select the “Órgiva (meeting point)” option when making your booking and we’ll arrange the handover with you there. This is the most convenient option if you’re arriving by bus from Granada or if you’re not staying in conventional tourist accommodation.
Opening hours are the same at all three locations: Monday to Saturday, 11:00 to 13:00. We do not operate in Órgiva on Sundays. Drop-off and collection each incur a fixed fee of €15, which applies to all three locations. If your return flight departs from Málaga, you can also end your journey at our airport office: for rentals of less than a week, a €30 surcharge applies for the one-way service; for longer stays, there is no charge for this service.

What our customers say

Hotels and campsites we serve in Órgiva
Órgiva has a surprising variety of accommodation for a village of its size: boutique hotels in the town centre, charming hotels on the outskirts and a campsite in the valley. Here are a few places we usually drive to:
Just a few minutes from the town centre, we look after the Hotel Puerta Nazarí, a classic establishment with refurbished rooms, its own restaurant and terraces offering views of the sunrise over the Guadalfeo Valley. At the entrance to the village, we’ll drop you off at the Hotel Taray, a villa with an Andalusian exterior and Nordic interior design, featuring gardens full of fruit trees. For a more boutique stay, Alpujarra Secret offers spacious apartments with a swimming pool and sun deck. And for those travelling by motorhome or tent, we’ll take your vehicle to Camping Órgiva, the village’s only campsite, right in the heart of the valley.
If you’re staying at another hotel in the village or at a holiday cottage in the area, please let us know when you make your booking and we’ll let you know whether we can pick you up there or if it’s better for you to meet us at the meeting point.
Day trips from Órgiva
Few towns in Andalusia are so close to such a variety of destinations. From Órgiva, in less than an hour you can be walking through one of Spain’s highest villages, swimming in the Mediterranean or strolling through the Alhambra.
Heading up into the mountains, in thirty minutes you’ll find yourself at the Barranco de Poqueira, where Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira cling to the hillside with their traditional drying rooms, looms and cobbled streets. Heading south, in forty minutes you’ll reach the Costa Tropical, with Salobreña and Motril as perfect destinations for a day by the sea. And fifteen minutes to the west, Lanjarón welcomes you with its thermal waters, its spa and the famous bottled water that has made the village famous throughout Spain.
And if you’re looking for just one unforgettable day trip, head up to Trevélez. Just over an hour from Órgiva along Spain’s highest road, you’ll find one of the country’s highest villages (1,476 m), famous for its Serrano hams with protected designation of origin, cured in the cold mountain air. It’s an outing that combines scenery, gastronomy and altitude: a morning strolling through its three terraced neighbourhoods, a lunch of freshly sliced ham, and the return journey admiring the peaks of the Sierra Nevada in the background.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to have my car collected in Órgiva?
€15 for delivery and another €15 for collection. The price is the same whether you’re staying in a hotel or on a campsite, or collecting from the meeting point in the village. You’ll see both amounts itemised in your booking before you confirm it, with no additional charges added later.
What are your delivery times?
We operate in Órgiva from Monday to Saturday, from 11:00 to 13:00, with the same opening hours at all three collection points. There is no delivery or collection service on Sundays. These opening hours are more limited than in other towns, so it’s best to book in advance to secure the time slot that suits you best.
Is it possible to return the car at Málaga Airport?
That is certainly possible. For rentals of less than a week, a charge of €30 applies for changing pick-up points; for longer bookings, return at the airport is included in the price.
If I need to collect the car outside Órgiva’s opening hours, is there an alternative?
Yes. If the 11:00–13:00 time slot doesn’t suit you, you can collect the car directly from our office in Motril, which is the closest to Órgiva and has longer opening hours. It’s about a forty-minute drive down the A-348, and from there you head up to Órgiva on the same road.
What do I need to have ready on the day I collect the car?
Three documents: your driving licence (held for at least one year), a national ID card or passport, and a credit card in your name to serve as security. If you only have a debit card, that’s no problem: we’ll take a deposit of €350, which you’ll get back in full when the contract ends. The minimum age is 21, there is no upper age limit, and a second driver is included at no extra cost.
